Thanks to everyone who helped us ( mostly everyone who reads this) we got all our stuff moved over here without too much trouble ( minus one tumble down the stairs and a distraught kitty). We love love it here and we are so happy. Luckily we got to keep all the furnishings because I prob never would have gotten around to decorating this place as nicely as it is now. I'm stressing trying to keep it perfect but it isnt really happening. Spring is here and kitty is shedding. Hello kitty hair flying across our new floors. Hello kitty hair everywhere! Oh well its great here and all three of us are as happy as can be. :)

This is our new home but the pictures are from when it was a model, so put a wooden garage door where those doors are and you've got our place!

Goodbye Birdie.

When I woke up this morning before I got ready for work, I went to go bring Hedwigs cage to the window. I'm not sure, but we made him a little birdie casket and gave him a proper burial next to a tree behind our apartment. We have a little addition to our family and it's name is hedwig. We think it's a girl but it still may be too young to tell. I just watched Harry Potter and I needed to name it Hedwig. I got the idea for a parakeet when I decided to get my mom one for her birthday while I was up in New York. She had one a long time ago and had been talking about wanting one so we went out and I got her one. When I came back here I sort of missed the little budgie so I convinced Brandon to go out and look at them with me. We picked the littlest of the lot. I was worried about kitty and the birdie but so far so good. She's interested in it but not too too much. We'll see how it goes :)

Reasons Not to Fly on Thanksgiving break

Copy of an email I sent to Lisa, regarding my trip home from New York

Dad took NYC exit instead of Albany on the thruway even though i tried
pulling the wheel
34 miles later we were back on track
speeding to make up time
speeding ticket
went to Albany anyway
in security 15 min b4 flight is leaving
get to gate with 5 min to spare
flight it delayed 1.5 hrs
I'm screwed.
I get a text from Orbitz, my JFK flight is delayed an hr as well
I am happy again with prospects of making it home
My plane is taxing and i get a bunch of texts
One being Orbitz telling me basically 'Just kidding' the flight is leaving at 7:45
instead of 8:30.... it's 7:51
Then I get another text saying 'just kidding' again its 8... so i book it
I grab my bag and run I get there and its chaos.
There's 3 flights leaving from my gate, or i should say 3 delayed or
cancelled flights
I break through the crowd and she cant hear me so i yell DALLAS!
And she proceeds to tell me it's gone.
I'm like gone!? It says its boarding !! She's like nope it left.
So i walk away and while I'm calling Brandon i just break down.
He answers and cant hear me because I'm inaudible.. (haha)
I tell him I'm stranded and there's no hope so he says something and will
call me back.
I go and find a kiosk and wait in line
The guy i go to doesn't even look me in the face, he books me for the next
day at 6 with a layover in Atlanta for 5 HRS!
I don't realize how sucky it is til i walk away
I find another kiosk and a guy says there's one that gets me to Dallas at 11
with a stop in Atlanta so I'm like woo!
A man comes barreling through some door and wont stop walking
The guy helping me runs after him
He comes back, the flight is gone.
He's like i don't know what happened.
F.
So he lists me as standby and i leave
Brandon calls, he got me a room
I walk away get on a Air train take an elevator walk outside ( alone in the
city :( scary thing)
The shuttle comes I go to hotel
I try and sleep
My neighbors are having sex
(I cant make this stuff up)
They stop and i lay down
It starts again
I fall asleep
3:50 i wake up and catch 4:30 shuttle to airport
6 am flight
Two clerks at the desks both on the phone
5:17 or so I get my tickets go through security
I meet this Brazilian kid who had to sleep in the airport all night
his first time in America, he was so happy though it was crazy
I get to my flight get on and arrive in Atlanta
Someone faints on someone else and they get hurt (no joke)
So we cant get off the plane when it lands til they get off but
people wont sit down
Captain yells over the speaker , twice and they get off
I run to see if i can get on the 10 Atlanta flight ,
clerk says im listed but no chance
I sit and sit
They call me I thank the lord and get on
We wait to take off for like an hr due to too much air traffic
I get to Dallas and I cant believe I'm there...
No luggage, the guy delivers it at 8 last night.

Every flight i went on either was delayed or took forever to land or tax or
take off
Im pretty sure that my Albany flight circled JFK for like an hr before it
landed and that i could have made the original flight
I have more stories about this believe me its ridiculous

Rock Band 2

So Brandon and I went to the mall because we haven't been there in a while. I usually avoid it due to not being able to resist buying something I like. Well his whole reason in going was to "look" at Rock Band 2 and "discuss" it :) . Well we did look at it AND discuss it and in the end we bought it but under the condition that he needs to sell his I pod that he never uses and at least one or two of his games... I will make sure this happens :) We played it last night and it was alot of fun except for now I'm tired from being up til 2 am.

Alice in Wonderland

I just found out today when I got home from work that Tim Burton is making a live-action and CGI version of the "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" story.

He tells Sci-Fi Wire that the story is "just such a classic, and the imagery is so surreal. I don't know; I've never seen a version where I feel like they got it all. It's a series of weird adventures, and to try to do it where it works as a movie will be interesting...The imagery, they've never quite nailed making it compelling as a full story. So I think it's an interesting challenge to direct."

It's of course starring Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp as "the mad hatter". Anne Hathaway is also going to be in it. I'm crazy about all of Tim Burtons movies. I waited so long for the corpse bride to come out and I really loved it. Big Fish is one of my favorite movies of all time. I'm saddened to find that it isn't going to be released until 2010. But when it is I'm sure it'll be amazing.

Michael Bublé

On Saturday Brandon took me to a Michael Bublé concert. It was amazing. Bublé put on such a great show and he was very personable and genuine. It was honestly one of the best concerts I've been to and by far the most entertaining. He was funny and sounded so good. He had his whole entourage of trombone and saxophone players, as well as a pianist, a Cellist and various other musicians there with him. Brandon even fell under Bublé's spell. He was really impressed. Which is good because then he'll continue to take me to such wonderful shows. First I got my hair cut on Monday which was really exciting for me! And then on Tuesday Brandon and I went and picked up my new (well, new-ish) car! It's a 2003 Mini Cooper S and it is amazing. I really am thrilled with it. It's the perfect size for me and I love its white stripes. It has such character for such a tiny car :) It has nav and climate control and all this cool stuff that I didn't have in my old car (my cavy :'( ... ) I am excited to drive to work in it each day, it sounds dorky but its true. Now when Brandon and I go anywhere, this is the car we take. And now I get the covered parking :D

New Do!

So I desperately needed a hair cut because it had been like 7 or so months since i had had it trimmed. April gave me the number of the lady that cut her hair because I really liked hers and figured she'd do a good job on mine too. So I go to the lady's house and I have her put some highlights in and she is asking me what i want done cut-wise. Shes like "well we could cut off about four inches or so if you want all the dead ends off..." and I had been debating it in my mind since I had gotten there, and was like "you know what? lets just chop it off, short like yours" and she said "are you serious? are you sure?" and I said "yeah just do it. it'll be good just hurry before I change my mind!" And chop chop snip snip and I had my new do. She didn't have a mirror in the room where she was cutting my hair so I had to wait until it was all finished before I could see it. And when she showed me, there wasn't any doubt in my mind that I loved it. She did such a wonderful job on the cut and color. I really really love it. I'm glad April was brave and cut her hair it made me feel more confident about doing it myself. :) It's nice to change things up a bit every now and then.

Our Adventure

Things were going so great with Brandon in New York that I just couldn't let him go back to Texas without me. So when I could finally go we checked the flights and decided that the only way we could get out was to get to Philadelphia somehow. Seeing as to how it was 4 hours away we weren't really sure how we were going to pull that off. Philadelphia seemed like a sure thing and since all the flights out of the nearest airports were full we decided to buy train tickets to Philly. Seemed simple enough.. and it was. We woke up at 5 and hopped the train which we took to another train where we took a cab to the airport. All things were going smoothly until I said "hey babe our adventure's almost over" and the next thing we knew two of the later flights were canceled and all the people from those flights were filling up the open seats on the ones we were listed for. Never ever fly standby. Ever.

So we waited around for a while to see if we could get out but it wasn't happening. Without panicking we discussed our options. We ended up finding a place to stay and woke up early the next morning to get to the airport for some mystery flight that was supposed to fly out all the people from the previous nights canceled flights. To our disappointment there was no such flight. So there we were at 3 o'clock in the morning stuck in the airport again. Only this time things didn't look good for us at all. We went through security and then found a place to sit down. Feeling hungry we grabbed some food and checked out the flights. They looked terrible. I looked at Brandon and said "we're not getting out today and it won't be any better tomorrow. Is there anywhere near here we can fly out of?" He told me about an airport his parents had mentioned and we checked it out. It was in Washington DC, 3 hours away! We looked at the flights and they looked great. But knowing how way gives into way we knew what could happen if we pursued this. We weighed our options but decided in the end that this was the best option. If we stayed in Philly, there was a good chance that we wouldn't be getting out for days and this was our only chance to possibly get out that day. We looked at rental cars with no avail so we checked out once again, train tickets. We had to make our decision quick.

We bought the tickets and boarded a train to the train station where we took two subway cars and a bus to the airport. We made it to the airport with just about enough time to make the flight we were aiming for. We hurried and made it through security just to get stuck waiting for a shuttle to take us to our gate. Once the shuttle doors opened we rushed through toward our gate just to find some passengers from another flight trying to get on this one. They had priority over us and would most likely take our seats. That was it. After two days of ups and downs and running around all over the place, trains and buses, taxi's, and subways...we needed to get on this flight or I was going to fall apart. The next flight looked good for us to get out but it was 4 hours later and we were both exhausted. Luckily we got on, we grabbed the last two seats and finally were headed to the place we had intended to arrive a day earlier.

"The truely happy person is the one who can enjoy the scenery of a detour."- anon

St Maartin

We had such a good time on our trip to St Maartin. We snorkeled pretty much every day, sometimes twice a day. We didn't take as many pictures as i would have liked but we kept ourselves busy most of the time and just didnt think about it. One night we were walking along the beach when we found a hermit crab. We played with him for a little while and came across another one. That sparked our interest and we decided to see how many we could find. So we spent an hour or two collecting hermit crabs in a bucket. We counted 70 or so before we let them all go.

Honest to Blog?

So it seems that it isn't cool to blog anymore... well due to that recent transition I felt the sudden urge to do just that. I only stayed four days in total, but those four days were filled with more things than i could have thought possible to do in such a short amount of time. I visited with my family, shipped a ton of my stuff out here from my moms house, hung out with friends and just did all i could to spend as much time with everyone as I could. On Friday I went out with Lisa and had a lot of fun. We ran into my friend Marlene and her boyfriend Chris. I hadn't seen them in a few years so it was a really good night.

That Saturday was my dad's birthday so I took him out to dinner. My aunt and uncle and my mom joined us. I had the waiter bring out a cake for him and they sang happy birthday. I've never seen him so embarassed! It was great and he was really happy :). I wish I could have spent more time out there with everyone, I miss them so much and it always hits me so much harder when i'm there. I was a bit saddened that it was children only. I do enjoy the bouncy castles. :)
It was sooo HOT outside!! :O !
We bet $5 on a horse named Afternoon Punch. The high stakes bet was made solely on his name. I was convinced he got 3rd place but when I went up to claim my little winnings I came to find out that he apparently did not place at all. How sad for Afternoon Punch. We stayed for about two hours and spent most of it with Megan and David. After a while there wasn't much left to do and the heat was really getting to us. It was really cool seeing a race though, we had never done that before. We had a lot of fun and were glad that Honda threw such a good "picnic" for its employees :)

VIP Party

Last night Brandon and I went to a VIP party at Gordon Biersch. We were invited by my friend Dan. He knew a girl that was flying out from California to open the restaurant and she put us all on the list for the party. Two other co-workers of mine, Megan & David went as well. It was great! We had tons of free food and alot of fun. Either that or I've been tagged... April got bored with my month and a half long retreat from blogging ... so she implored me to post again. When I unintentionally neglected her implores, she tagged me. Now i don't know what the consequences are for ignoring tags... but I'm sure they aren't good.. so here it is! My favorite things ...

Ahem...

My favorite thing about my kitchen is. . .My refrigerator :) It keeps all my frozen food at peak frozen temperature....and it keeps all my perishables ...well... unperished.. It really is a beautiful thing. Runner up would be my dishwasher... it's a very close second. I love putting all the dishes in there , turning the knob and then occupying my time with something else that would have been spent washing the dishes. Most likely i will also waste the time i save but thus time is saved and i waste it doing something i probably enjoy... maybe.

My favorite thing about my bathroom is... My super big bathtub. I mean i don't generally have a hard time fitting in a normal size tub but I like having all the extra room to relax in. I take a bubble bath about once a week. You know to relieve all the stress :)
On another note, Iva discovered last week that the tub is indeed her least favorite thing in the bathroom.

My favorite thing in my bedroom is... My bed. It may only be a queen size but it sure is comfy and it makes it difficult for me to get up in the early morning to go to work.

My favorite thing in my living room is... My television. We have the TV propped up above the fireplace and I watch my favorite shows on it. Right now we're watching all the seasons of that 70's show and it is almost the perfect vessel to do so on. The perfect one would be the projector in the game room that we watch all of our movies on. I would watch more shows on it but I like to be in the living room during the day... and not in the bat cave.
:) I also am very happy with these couches that we got .... they're super cozy.

My favorite thing in the bedroom closet is... a) my clothes and b) that it is a walk-in and I can fit all my clothes in it :) I feel like clothing is what i spend most of my expendable cash on. I really like going into my closet and picking out my outfit for the day.

My favorite thing in the pantry... is not that it's the weirdest shaped space ever designed to be filled with food. The shelves are very narrow yet they go very far back. Now I being a person of a generous 5'2 build cannot reach into the great beyond that is most of my pantry.. so most of the food is towards the front. I am not able to utilize the space as much as Id like to but my favorite thing about it is all the food in it. Thats usually where I store my macaroni and cheese... the one perfect meal.

My favorite thing in the "office" is... my Imac. I love this computer so much. It's a beautiful piece of brilliant proportions. That and my desk it sits on are the sole contents of this office/dining area.

My favorite thing in the baby's room is... well i cannot answer this question as of yet due to the fact that it does not exist right now. I'm sure that when it does, I'll send out an update :)

Everyone I know with a blog has already been tagged! :O It seems that I'm that person that always ends the chains due to insufficient email contacts/ lack of interest. Only this time it is truly lack of blog-tacts that has stinted this tag spread.

Iva Jane

For my birthday Brandon wanted to get me a kitty. So a week ago we decided to go to Petsmart to take a look and see if they had any. When we got there we saw that Kittysave was there with about 15 or so different cats trying to find new homes for them. Kittysave is a group of volunteers that save cats from shelters who are scheduled to be euthanized. They then take the cats in and become their caretakers until they can find new homes for them. We found 2 cats that we fell in love with.. and after much deliberating we decided that Iva, the tortoiseshell kitten, was for us. This decision was made easier due to the fact that while i was holding her she stretched herself out and fell asleep in my arms.

    She's older than we were originally looking for, 7 months, but she's perfect for us. She's very affectionate and acts like a dog. She follows us around our apartment and hops into bed and sleeps at the foot of our bed. She gets up with me when its still dark outside and lays outside the bathroom while I get ready for work. She's a constant purrer and sometimes when she's really really happy, it gets really loud. We're happy that she's happy. She's great and we love her already.

The Monday after we got her, on my birthday, i took her to the groomers for a bath and the lady said it would take 4 hours so I came home for a while. When I got home I walked in and was so sad. I felt the void of our new kitty already. So when i got the call 2 hours later that her bath was done I hurried over and picked her up. She was done early because she wasn't doing well with the dryer process so they were letting her air dry. I wanted to take her home so she could be comfortable. The whole process seemed to be very traumatic. There were big scary dogs there. She looked so funny, half of her body was fluffy and her legs and tail were all damp and matted. We were just relieved that she was clean and we could cuddle with her. We love her and I'm afraid we're spoiling her already. :)

We didn't do a whole lot more that night but watch tv and get Olive Garden to go. I love their breadsticks with the Alfredo dip. It was a nice birthday being home with my
family. :D

We also got her a pretty sweet collar. Its dark green with rhinestones. She's very bling bling.

Right now as I'm writing this she's sleeping in my lap in the most curious of positions. Her paw is stretched out and she has what appears to be a smile on her face. She has taken well to us and our home... we couldn't be happier with her. One thing that does get us a little frustrated at times is her insatiable hunger and desire for our food. No matter how much food she has in her bowl she will sniff out what we're eating ... or drinking. She meows constantly and needs to be put in the other room until we're done. I think she feels too comfortable. She thinks she's a person. But other than that she's a wonderful cat. She is warm and gentle. And we laugh sometimes because we'll be sitting together at the computer or somewhere in a small space and she'll squeeze herself in to get in on our cuddle time. She's very sweet. We're very happy with our little Iva Jane.

Imac-izzle!

So imagine my surprise when I return home from a hard days work to find my brand new computer patiently waiting for me. I suggested aloud that we should go check out the shoe section because I desperately needed a pair of work shoes. Brandon lovingly agreed and onward we went. And guess what?? I walked out with not one but FIVE pairs. Yes...five. They are having some shoe clearance extravaganza. I only spent $40. That was about how much i would have spent on one pair of work shoes. We were there for about6 days. It was beautiful. <img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HK20cvnP1B0/R5VpiIlcU2I/AAAAAAAAAJs/AnV4Opbx8LA/s320/tikibeach.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158144983363769186" /> It was their winter season so it was about 75 degrees everyday and the ocean was a little cold but that didn't stop us from getting in our bathing suits and jumping in! We did so many fun things while we were there. We rented a scooter and drove around, we went parasailing which was awesome!, and we also took a jet ski tour around the island and stopped at a little spot where a part of Pirates of the Caribbean 2 was filmed. Brandon and I found various sea creatures during our excursions. We found a starfish, a stingray, an eel, a teeeeny tiny crab, some hermit crabs.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HK20cvnP1B0/R5UgeIlcUuI/AAAAAAAAAIs/C2Rwh1HRGm8/s320/crustycrab.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158064650295464674" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HK20cvnP1B0/R5UkM4lcUxI/AAAAAAAAAJE/Vf6kkTcdTOg/s320/starfish.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158068751989232402" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_HK20cvnP1B0/R5UkwIlcUyI/AAAAAAAAAJM/qqGa7Sz4S3k/s320/shell.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158069357579621154" />
The staff on the island weren't very friendly. In fact the only people that were friendly were the tourists. There weren't that many people at the resort where we stayed, so we pretty much got the beach to ourselves. It was like we were on our own little deserted piece of the island.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HK20cvnP1B0/R5UhQolcUwI/AAAAAAAAAI8/QEORHedaFX0/s320/island.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158065517878858498" />

Brandon and I had a lot of fun. It was great to be in warm weather this time of year and to be technically out of the country for the first time :)...even if it was only by 100 miles. By the end of the trip we were ready to come home. We missed having everything close to us and we especially missed our computers :) How sad haha...but true. We didn't realize how cold it had gotten here while we were away so when I came back in a tee shirt I froze on the walk out to the car. We had a really great time but we missed everyone and we are glad to be back.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HK20cvnP1B0/R5UofYlcUzI/AAAAAAAAAJU/l_krBVrToGk/s320/bahamas.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158073467863323442" />

Haha....

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HK20cvnP1B0/R4beRolcUrI/AAAAAAAAAIU/OwgkWPzZRQU/s400/wob.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154051218105717426" />

Hello 2008!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HK20cvnP1B0/R4HSB4lcUlI/AAAAAAAAAHo/utyuLtsMHgY/s320/angular.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152630378499691090" />
Happy New Year everybody! And by everybody I mean the 3 people that read this post besides myself :D I could tell you what we did on New Years but pretty much everybody that reads this blog was there. So i'll recap... Rock band all night, sparkling cider, broken glass, bandaids. :D It was a good one.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HK20cvnP1B0/R4HVJ4lcUmI/AAAAAAAAAHw/BbDOXsz0JtU/s320/rock_band.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152633814473527906" />

Its been two weeks since the wedding and things are going great! Our honeymoon is next Sunday..exactly one week from today. We're going to the Bahamas. I am so excited! I've never been anywhere like that. We're going to have so much fun :D. And we are also so thrilled that we have found an apartment! We're moving in on the 26th of this month . It's the weekend after we get back. There's so much fun stuff this month! Kristi had her baby.. Bryce on the 3rd. He's cute and he has a full head of dark dark hair and he makes this humming noise :D so so cute.

We haven't been up to much except trying to get all our stuff ready for the move and buy everything we don't have that we'll need which is...well everything. There's this Papasan chair from Pier 1 that we're going to get for our movie room. <img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_HK20cvnP1B0/R4GrQolcUjI/AAAAAAAAAHY/uaHRUBTOXns/s200/papasan.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152587750949278258" />It's super comfy and it's red..which is one of my favorite colors :D We aren't going to have a lot of color in our apartment because we've been partial to the neutrals in all of our choices so far but we really like the red chair so our movie room will be colorful :D.

Oh well we'll probably only have the basics when we move in and then start picking up everything else when we're better familiar with the apartment. But all you readers out there are invited to come over and hang out with us in our new place!! :D

Oh and as for the cute comic at the beginning of this post...I had to add it because I found it a while ago and I just felt that it reminded me of all the short trips Brandon and I made to see each other and how we hung on to every second til we had to go home...and now that we're at home together we can look back and really appreciate our time together. There are a bunch more of these comics online at www.xkcd.com.
